Saint Mary's Christian University is a religious institution that is seeking approval to operate under the exemption provided by Florida Statute §1005.06(1)(f). This statute exempts certain religious institutions from licensure by the Florida Commission for Independent Education.

Florida Statute §1005.06(1)(f):

"Any institution that is chartered by and whose faculty is approved by the church or religious denomination specified in its charter, or a subsidiary of such institution, and that offers only programs and degrees in areas of study that are religious in nature" is exempt from licensure requirements.
